- Gather, sort, wash, & dry clothes- have kids bring theirs to the laundry room
- Fold & put away- kids can do this
- Mending- when you notice a piece that needs mending, put it in one basket or place in the laundry room. Keep all your sewing supplies in one container, so it is easy to pull out when you need it.
- Ironing
- Gather dry cleaning clothes to take on town day.
- My sewing kit- my grandmother is an excellent seamstress. She tried to impart her skills, and we made a dress together one summer. I never tried it again. :) But anyone can mend things. Gather these things to make a sewing kit: different sized needles, straight pins, safety pins, scissors, different colors of thread, little hotel sewing kits you can never find when you need them, all the buttons that come with your clothes, seam ripper, thimble, and measuring tape (for the next time you need to order a bridesmaid dress or tuxedo)
Some families prefer to do one load a day instead (or several per day with larger families). We average 4 loads per week, so this works for us.
